Caroline McClelland, or Linus, as she is known to her friends and colleagues, grew up in CT. She wanted to be a painter and studied fine art at UCT from 1990-1994. This is where she was introduced to fine art photography. Her subject matter of choice being plants. She was intrigued in particular by the works of Karl Blossfeldt, an early modernist (1926) artist who’s works were inspired by nature. It was his belief that “nature in its endless monotony of origin and decay is the embodiment of a profound secret”.

It was the continuous understanding and interpretation of this "secret" that has inspired Caroline to this day.
